Yesterday was day 1 for “TheDailyMarker.com” 30 day coloring challenge.
I’ve been on their mailing list for a while, and always intend to do this. If you’ve seen many of my cards or projects, then you know that I LOVE coloring with my Spectrum Noir markers. So this challenge should be a breeze for me to do.
Not so. Like it does for all of you, Life happens. I tend to do more crafting when I have a (self-imposed) project deadline. For example, Halloween and Christmas cards for everyone I know at work… approximately 300 per holiday and usually only a few cards per design. Why do I do this to myself?!?!?
I’m really going to try to do the challenge this time. To get started, I grabbed some cheap colored markers (Recollections Brush Tip Markers from Michaels), and an old adult coloring book (“Sunny Side Up”, picked up on clearance at Walmart a couple of years ago), and colored while watching Aquaman last night. I like the way some of the colors blend, even though they are nothing like my Spectrum Noir…. but this set is easier to carry around since it’s only 24 markers. AND it’s much cheaper at around $5 for the pack. Just don’t expect the ink to behave the same as alcohol ink markers… remember, this is a cheap starter set.
After watching the movie, I want to make something ocean or mermaid related. LOL. So I’ll need to decide on an image, or attempt to sketch one myself… not sure if I’m that brave yet.
I encourage you to give this a try. Coloring is very therapeutic, even when you are somewhat a perfectionist like me. The hardest part that I’ve found is being willing to try new things, and make mistakes. I have to remember that it’s only paper. And making mistakes is a part of learning.
For those of you that choose to participate, I’d love to share your projects in my “Crafting with Debbie” Facebook Group and here on my blog.
To submit your photo, join the group, and message me that you’d like to add your photo. I’ll be creating an album for the challenge in the next couple of days.
Thanks so much for dropping by, and Happy Crafting. See you next time!
