A new beginning
Hi. And thanks for dropping by.
It’s been a while since my last post, other than sharing photos or videos of some of my more recent crafting endeavors. It’s a little odd. I started this blog in January as a way to record “some of this educational journey” that I call my life. I went from attempting to share what I was learning or doing in fitness, planning, and general crafting. Along the way, I have become a bit obsessed with paper crafting, and I let this blog fall by the wayside. To those of you who have chosen to try to follow me along the way, I am sorry that I have let you down.
Since I don’t see an end to the obsession coming anytime soon, I’m planning on changing up my blog and YouTube channel to better reflect on what I love doing, and what I think people will want to see or read about, and I welcome your opinions and suggestions. After all, this blog and my YouTube channel are mostly for you.
The plan is to re-vamp them to focus on crafting only (I’m sure there is no surprise there). I’ve been learning so much, and my crafts have greatly improved in such a short time. I’ve watched many hours of tutorials, technique demos, and process videos. I’ve bought way too many paper packs, dies, stamps, stencils, embossing folders, etc. Most of which, I haven’t used yet… but I try to pick up few each week to try out. I’ve discovered some things that work for me, some that I need to work on to see if I can get them to work for me, and some things that I wished I had known months ago.
I want to help supply you with some of that information, and to research those things that keep us a bit stumped. For instance, the difference between 110 lb cardstocks… it’s all about the GSM (grams per square meter, or density). I know I watched a video on this but didn’t really get it, until I accidentally bought some 300 GSM 110 LB cardstock at Michael’s. Even after I got it home, and realized what I had bought, I didn’t open it right away thinking that it wouldn’t make a difference. After Hurricane Irene, and the super high humidity (with no AC to counter it), my cardstock was wilting. I decided to open the new paper… And I won’t go back to the lower GSM 110 LB cardstock for my card bases. I may find something better, but, for now, I’ll stick with the 300 GSM. I plan on doing a post just on cardstocks, along with a video to show the difference.
I also want to share all the other things that I’ve been learning or trying out.
With Halloween and Christmas right around the corner, it’ll be a little hard to get posts out to you regularly, but that is the goal. I hope that you find the new version of my blog more enjoyable and informative. And if you have come across some challenges in your own crafting, let me know. Maybe we can find a solution together, and help others along the way.
