Hi Guys! It’s Debbie with Debbie J’s Crafting Corner. Today’s blog post is all about the adorable stamp set from Colorado Craft Company that I used for Kendra’s Card Challenge number 15. If you’ve been following along, you know that I love a good challenge, and this one was no exception! This video is part of a collaboration hop, and I couldn’t be more excited to share the card I created with this cute set.

The stamp set, called “Topiaries and Kitten,” features these charming topiary designs, including one shaped like a kitty! How cute is that? I also discovered a little bird stamp in the set that added a perfect touch to my card. I’ve paired this with a paper pack from my stash—Simple Stories’ Vintage Bliss, which I’ve had since 2013! Talk about finally putting it to good use.

I started by stamping and coloring the everything using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. This ink is perfect for alcohol marker coloring.

Then, I selected a color scheme to complement the paper pack. For the topiary, especially the kitty-shaped one, I used a stippling technique to add texture. I’m still practicing my stippling, but I think it turned out great! I added a darker green for depth and then embossed the topiary with clear embossing powder to really make those leaves pop.

Once all the coloring was done, I re-stamped with Versafine Clair Nocturn ink and heat embossed clear over the top. That made all of the stamped lines crisp and clean.

Pro Tip: Always leave the stamp in your Misti so you can re-stamp if needed. Or if you decide to finish things off with some heat embossed lines!

Next, I focused on assembling the card. I used the piece of cardstock where I had cut out a circle as my matting layer, trimming it down according to the sketch I was following. After layering everything, I decided to pop up the entire front panel with some foam tape to add dimension. I love using foam tape—it’s such a simple way to give your cards that extra something!

After carefully aligning everything (yes, I double-checked to make sure it was all straight!), I added the three topiaries to the card front. Of course, I couldn’t resist adding the little kitty and bird as well—they just make the card so much more fun! For the sentiment, I chose “How are you doing, my friend?” which fits perfectly across the front.

And that’s it! This card is a wonderful example of how you can use a few basic techniques—like stippling, embossing, and layering—to create something truly special. I hope you enjoy the video and feel inspired to dive into your own crafty stash to create a card that’s just as cute.
