Today I’m sharing a couple of design team projects that I created for TaylorMadeCards4U using her new Soda Fountain Shoppe Bundle Digital Kit. The papers and ephemera in this kit are just adorable with a soft feminine vintage style… Which I think would be perfect for Valentine Cards… don’t you?
The two projects that I created using this kit are a pretty pink card, and a soda fountain shoppe memory dex card.
First I printed all of the pages from the kit and cut out all of the ephemera pieces by hand.
I had considered using my ScanNCut for this, but there was enough white or very light colors in the edges of the images that the machine didn’t recognize them.
No worries. I just sat on the couch watching Netflix and got them all cut out in no time.
I did need to print the ephemera page a few times. I made a sample of each and love how they turned out!
Then I realized that there are a LOT of pieces that I’m not using for these.
So I opened up the ephemera image and started cropping.
Then I put the cropped milkshake image into word, duplicated it about 10 times (after checking to make sure that the size matched what I had already cut out from the original (you ARE allowed to resize.. Check out the shop page.) It worked perfectly! Now I have a bunch to work with!
After cutting them all out, I started on the card.
My favorite image in the whole kit is the girl in the big hat. She is just so sweet. So I used her for the card.
Then I decided to layer some of the images, for dimension.
This is a little different than what I usually do. I normally just add some foam adhesive to the back of an image, and place that on the card.
Instead, I layered, with foam dots, one milkshake on top of another. If you see it from the side, you can see the image underneath.
I thought that gave it a decoupaged kind of look (which I know nothing about, but will be experimenting with) and love the result.
Since it works so well on the card, I decided to use the same technique on the MemoryDex card.
For the base, I used a 4″ x 4″ piece of one of the background from the kit, and layered a 4″ x 4″ piece of white cardstock behind it. And I have a Heidi Swapp Punch (which is sometimes hard to find. The link provided showed out of stock, but there are other options for making MemoryDex cards.)
Although it’s optional, I ALWAYS add a second layer to the MemoryDex card base
. Why? Without it, even heavy weight card stock feels a bit flimsy to me, and I hate giving any project to someone if I think it looks to be low quality.
Adding that extra layer makes such a big difference. And if you are using thinner paper, you may want to add more (I’ve added 2 or 3 to projects that used paper from a paper pad or less than 300gsm cardstock… but that’s just me).
I took a 3 of each of the ephemera pieces (Pepsi, root-beer float, milkshake) and layered 2 of each like before. Then I arranged all the pieces. So we have some that are flat, and some that are dimensional. And I placed the “Soda Fountain Shoppe” sentiment that is included in the kit across the front and raised with foam dots.

So cute Debbie! I love the collages!
Thanks! They are a great way for cardmakers (like me) to use patterned paper for some quick cards. The difficulty comes in deciding what and how much to add, since the coloring is all done for you.
