Haunted House Snow Globe Card

Let’s make a spooky Haunted House Snow Globe Card!

I used the Autumn Greetings stamp set from Brutus Monroe. I love this set… but it’s discontinued. There is good news though. The empty snowglobe stamp is still available.

That means that you can do something similar using stamps that you have in your stash. And I’ll show you how.

I created a positive and a negative mask for the snow globe using some contact paper and my ScanNCut.

This was super easy.

  1. Stamp the image.
  2. Scan it into the ScanNCut.
  3. Replace the image with some contact paper.
  4. Set your machine to kiss-cut the image out of the contact paper. I have the SDX125 which has an autoblade and a “half cut” setting that was perfect for this. To see how this works, check out this post.

I added the positive mask over the stamped and embossed snow globe and I used the “ink to paper” technique to color the background with Catherine Pooler inks.

And, of course, I added some water splatter for that great texture.

Then I removed the mask.

I colored in the white border around the snow globe and the snow globe base with some Spectrum Noir Markers.

I added the negative mask around the snow globe and stamped the haunted house image that came in the stamp set with VersaMark ink. You could use whatever stamp you want for this.

Then I the image with Whispers Opaque Black Embossing powder from Darice and started heating things up.

Then I realized my mistake… the masks that I used are contact paper… which means plastic. Don’t apply heat to them or they will melt.

If you plan to heat emboss, use masking or removable label sheets to create your masks since the paper won’t melt.

If you aren’t heat embossing, the contact paper will work great and last longer (I had already made several cards last year using the same mask. The ink wipes right off.

After finishing the embossing, I colored the image with Spectrum Noir Markers.
