Skeleton Witch Card

Hey, Crafty Friends! It’s Debbie from Debbie J’s Crafting Corner, and today I’m thrilled to share a project for the Scrappy Tails Design Team using some fantastic dies from their Halloween collection. You are gonna LOVE this Skeleton Witch Card!

I absolutely love Halloween—it’s the perfect time to experiment with new techniques and create fun, spooky designs!

Today, we’re focusing on making a Halloween-themed card featuring skeletons, witchy hats, cauldrons, potion bottles, and more. I had a blast working with these dies and can’t wait to walk you through how I put this card together.

Step-by-Step Instructions:

Step 1: Choose Your Die-Cuts

Start by selecting your favorite dies from the Scrappy Tails collection. I used a skeleton, witch hat, cauldron, potion bottles, and the frame from the Spellbook cover plate die set for this project. Die-cut and color each element from cardstock. Feel free to mix and match colors—I went with purple for the hat, light blue for the potion bottles, and a mix of green and pink for the potion accents.

Step 2: Color and Customize

Using Ohuhu markers, color in the die-cuts. The potion bottles get a beautiful blue hue, while the witch hat pops in purple with a green band. Add some fun details like a red heart on one of the bottles, and use a gel pen to bring out embossed features like the skull and crossbones. This step allows you to make each element your own!

Step 3: Build Your Scene

Now that your elements are ready, it’s time to create the scene. Layer the skeleton behind the cauldron and give it a fun twist by popping a witch hat on its head! I decided to have my skeleton “holding” one of the potion bottles—it looks like the skeleton is brewing something spooky!

Step 4: Frame It Up

Use the inner frame from the Spellbook cover plate die set as a… frame… to house your little scent. Behind the frame, add a piece of stone wall-patterned paper (mine was from a Hero Arts kit from 2017) to create a dark, mysterious backdrop. The mix of textures and colors really makes this card pop!

Step 5: Assemble the Card

Once the scene is set, adhere all the pieces onto your card base using foam tape to give the card extra dimension. Make sure the skeleton, cauldron, and potion bottles are all in place before framing everything with the Spellbook die-cut. I also added a couple of bats flying around and some bat wings to the cauldron for an extra creepy effect on this Skeleton Witch Card!

Step 6: Add the Sentiment

Stamp a fun Halloween sentiment inside the card. I chose “Just a Little Hocus Pocus,” which fits perfectly with the spooky vibe of the card. You can also add a potion bottle next to the sentiment for some added charm.

Step 7: Final Touches

For the inside frame, I die-cut a white piece of cardstock to match the front frame, keeping the theme consistent throughout the card. Finally, assemble and adhere all the layers to the card base. I had so much fun making this Skeleton Witch Card!

Thank you!

And there you have it! This Halloween card is a fun and creative way to play with Scrappy Tails dies. The combinations are endless—you can use these elements to create different scenes, make ornaments, or even tags. Have fun and let your imagination run wild!
