Lots of Halloween Cards… and More to Come!
As we head through August and closer to October, I've started my annual Halloween card making.
In my last post, I shared the first few Halloween videos, including a review of a lot of last years projects.
I’m trying to work a little smarter this year… and use my crafty stash instead of just buying new stuff. Besides, most of the new Halloween items haven’t come out yet.
So last week I pulled out my stash and started sorting it. I couldn’t believe how many stickers I have, just for Halloween… especially since I don’t use stickers that much. I think most of it I got either from the Target Dollar Spot, Dollar Tree, or on clearance at Michaels, Joanne’s and Hobby Lobby. They were so cute and as such a discount that I couldn’t resist.
Over 20 packs. After finishing a bunch of cards
42 cards. 42 cards made using pattern paper scraps and stickers. A few have a die-cut frame, and a few have washi tape accents. Other than that, I created the card bases from 300 lb cardstock from Michaels (my go-to for card bases) and added a white-space panel on the inside of the black card bases for a stamped sentiment and any written note to add later.
I used a couple of easy sentiments. “Happy Halloween” and “Trick or Treat”. The ones I used were from the “Pumpkinhead” set from Tim Holtz. (I’ve got some other card ideas for this set… coming soon!)

Why am I sharing all this with you?
I want to inspire you to get out those supplies from last year (or longer) and start creating!
I love creating, and have always felt that I was “cheating” if I used premade things…. I’m slowly getting past that.
My current batch of cards were made because I wanted to craft and I wanted to use some of the stuff I already had. Ok. Not just because of that. I’m still struggling with my illness (hopefully the docs will figure it out soon) and felt lousy for several days. No energy. After a couple of days of this, I got impatient and decided to try putting something together.
I love how these turned out.
Here are a few sketches drawn from the cards I made:
