Here is a fun embossing folder technique to create a Faux Metal Background that I just discovered from Jennifer McGuire!
I love embossing folders but sometimes struggle with how to add some color. So I’m super excited about how well this panel turned out by just using an emery board and some extra ink!

I’m sharing my projects as part of the Spellbinders Club Influencer Group.
The paper that I embossed using the new Splatter embossing folder from Spellbinders is some Recollections Iridescent Cardstock from Michaels. After embossing, I took an emery board (I didn’t have a sanding block handy) and sanded off some of the foiled surfaces from the raised parts of my embossed panel.

After sanding, I took out some inks and added some color to the sanded places, and wiped away the excess from the foiled part. The ink doesn’t absorb as much through the foiled surface, and it gives a pretty cool effect because it DOES soak into the exposed cardstock.

This would work better with a 3d embossing folder, but I still love the way these turned out! To be honest, I was just trying out this technique, after watching Jennifer McGuire, and loved the panel so much I just had to turn on the camera and record making these cards!
